Communion

Taking communion

If you are streaming you are free to take communion at any point, as long as you are able to manage other requirements of the role.

Privacy

The act of taking communion can be a particularly intimate one between that person and God, and whilst streaming a service you should avoid making people who are taking communion the focus.

You should avoid camera angles which show people’s faces (with the exception of the president and other servers), and should always use wider shots.

You might also find our section on consent to be streamed useful reading.

Confirmation

During a service of confirmation the person being confirmed may also take their first communion. You should ask the individual what their preferences are; some people may want to make a very public statement of faith, whereas others may prefer this first communion to be a very private act.
