Key points
- All persons working alone must be aware of the Church’s Health and Safety policies, as well as the fire safety procedures for the building.
- You must always have a mobile phone with you, with numbers stored for the Vicar and Churchwardens.
- Lone working at height or lone working in the tower above the organ loft level are explicitly forbidden.
- When working alone, lock external doors behind you (except in cases where you’re there to open the church building).
- Conduct a risk assessment before any activity. If the activity needs more than one person to complete safely, don’t try to do it alone.
