💳 Taking payments

Many church events are free to attend and take part in, but some others carry a cost. Payments can be taken for these in a number of ways.

Card payments

Online via ChurchSuite

To take online payments via ChurchSuite you will need to first make sure the event exists in the calendar, has sign-ups enabled, and has appropriate ticket types added. People can then buy tickets from the ChurchSuite event page.

Reconciliation

Payments taken through ChurchSuite will be paid to the Church through Stripe. You should use the Stripe Transfers report to reconcile ticket sales with payments received.

In person using PayPal POS

You will need to get a member of the Tech Team or Finance Team with access to PayPal POS to add the event to the product library. You must not use “Amount” mode to take event payments, as this makes it much harder to account for.

On your phone

If you have a mobile phone the chances are that you can take card payments directly on your phone without needing extra any equipment.

Before you can take payments on your phone you must have a member of the Tech Team or Finance Team create a user account for you on PayPal POS.

You will also need to download the PayPal POS app for either iPhone or Android and install it to your phone.

Using the bar card terminal

Since we use PayPal POS for all in-person payments, you can also use the bar’s card terminal to take payments if you have access.

Reconciliation

You should use the Sales by product report to reconcile ticket sales with payments received.
