Safeguarding

Safeguarding Policy

Everyone on the team at St Mary’s has a responsibility for safeguarding people, no matter if you are clergy, a member of PCC, a group leader or a volunteer.

Reporting procedure

You should familiarise yourself with the procedure for dealing with safeguarding allegations or concerns, which is an appendix to the Safeguarding Policy.

Online training

If your role requires it, you can find the Church of England’s training portal at the following link:

Church of England Safeguarding Training Portal

The Safeguarding Officer can advise you on which training is necessary, but as a general rule everyone should complete:

  • Basic Awareness
  • Foundations

To simplify reporting, you should enter the Safeguarding Officer’s email address in the “Local reporting” field under Organisation Details on your edit profile page.

DBS checks

If your role requires it, you must undergo a DBS check. The Safeguarding Officer will tell you if this is the case, and begin the application process on your behalf.
