Images of children

You must not post any images (including photographs or video) featuring identifiable children, over any of our channels, except where explicit written consent has been given.

If you are taking photographs on behalf of the Church you should familiarise yourself with the Parish Safeguarding Handbook Section 11.1. If you are streaming a service, you should familiarise yourself with the relevant section of the playbook.

Stock photography

Where stock photos have been taken from a reputable service (examples include Unsplash, Pexels, and stock photography within Canva) we assume that a model release has already been sought. Remember that other licensing restrictions may still apply.

Where using an image with a child as the focus is necessary, for example in promoting a particular activity or where they play a role in a streamed service, you must first make sure you have a signed consent form. You can find this form, and the associated privacy notice, on the Church of England website:

Church of England Safeguarding Templates and Resources

Completed consent forms should be filed appropriately in Google Drive. If you don’t have access to the appropriate part of Google Drive then you should send completed forms to either the Safeguarding Officer or the Data Protection Officer.
