Passwords policy

All users of Church systems must follow this passwords policy.

  • Do not share your usernames or passwords with anyone, for any reason. If someone else needs access to a system, check with the Technology Team.
  • Don’t reuse passwords between systems. If you need to keep track of different passwords, use a password manager.

2-step authentication

Some users, particularly those who have access to sensitive resources, will be required to use 2-step authentication1. This means that as well as your password, you must also prove that you have access to a separate physical device (such as a phone). By adding a second layer of security, even if someone else knows your password they still cannot sign in as you.

Setting up 2-step authentication

You can follow Google’s guidance on setting up 2-step verification. If you need additional support, contact the Head of Technology.

  1. Sometimes also known as two-factor authentication, or 2FA.
