🎨 Style guide
This is the Style Guide for St Mary’s Church, Whitkirk. It’s here to help you produce things for the Church which are consistent, high quality, easy for people to use and which promote our values.
We are aiming for consistency in all materials produced by the Church, rather than uniformity, so this style guide is not a set of hard and fast rules to be mindlessly followed. If you think there is a good reason to not follow a guideline then you shouldn’t be afraid to make a change, or if you’re not sure then contact the Communications Team.

The Communications Team are always happy to review or offer advice on anything you are planning to distribute over any channel, regardless of quantity or how important the event may be.
However, there are a few things where it’s important to make sure the Church’s brand is adhered to, materials are of high quality, our message is consistent and we’re shown in the best possible light. You can help with this by always checking with the Communications team before:
- Making any kind of public statement or announcement on behalf of the Church, or when acting in an official capacity.
- Getting anything printed or produced externally, regardless of quantity or cost.
- Approving anything which has been produced by an external company (send the Communications Team the draft first).
- Printing anything which is planned to go outside of the usual congregation or services, such as materials for handing out at assemblies.
- Settling on an overall style or message for any of our tentpole services around Easter or Christmas.
- Producing any audio or video content.
- Producing anything to be shared online, including text or images.
- Launching any new initiative, project or services.
