Lone working

Key points

All persons working alone must be aware of the Church’s Health and Safety policies, as well as the fire safety procedures for the building.
You must always have a mobile phone with you, with numbers stored for the Vicar and Churchwardens.
Lone working at height or lone working in the tower above the organ loft level are explicitly forbidden.
When working alone, lock external doors behind you (except in cases where you’re there to open the church building).
Conduct a risk assessment before any activity. If the activity needs more than one person to complete safely, don’t try to do it alone.
