▶️ Streaming a service
Here’s our playbook for the essential steps of streaming a service.
Preflight
30 minutes
- Switch the amplifiers (back vestry) on if not already.
- Check the altar microphone is on top of the linens.
- Switch on the camera monitor using the button on the bottom right edge.
- Set the audio mixer correctly for the beginning of a service:
- Both choir microphones, the lectern, altar, president and deacon microphones should be set to level 0. Note this is not the very top of the faders.
- Both yellow master faders are all the way up.
- Unlock the StreamDeck, then:
- Check that the upcoming YouTube stream listed on the second row is the correct one.
- If not, you can press the purple “Reload YouTube” button to force a refresh.
- If the stream is still not the right one, contact the Head of Technology for guidance.
- Press the blue “PRE-SERVICE” button (bottom row). This will set the correct camera inputs and prepare the ATEM for the service.
- Press the “Stream” button (third row). This will begin the ATEM streaming to YouTube.
- After a few seconds the “Stream” status indicator on the second row should turn green.
- Press the yellow “TEST STREAM” button (second row)
- The YouTube buttons should flash yellow and green, then settle on green.
- Check that the upcoming YouTube stream listed on the second row is the correct one.
- Choose your starting camera angle on the ATEM and leave it on the preview.
10 minutes
- On the StreamDeck:
- Press the “Record” button (third row) to begin service recording.
- Press the green “GO LIVE” button (second row) to begin the public stream on YouTube.
- The YouTube buttons should flash green and red, then settle on red.
Starting the service
- On the StreamDeck, Press the blue “Service START” button to automatically bring up audio and switch cameras.
- Signal to the procession that they are safe to begin, usually with a thumbs up gesture.
Ending the service
- On the StreamDeck, Press the blue “Service FINISH” button to automatically mute audio, switch to the “thank you” still and fade to the media player.
Tidying up
- Set the PTZ to position 1
- On the StreamDeck, Press the blue “POST-SERVICE” button to return things to our usual defaults.
- Switch the monitor off by pressing and holding the button on the bottom right edge
