StreamDeck

Our StreamDeck is an easy way to control parts of our setup with a single push. It gives us 32 programmable buttons which can control most equipment connected to our network, particularly our ATEM video mixer, as well as remotely control YouTube streaming.

If you’re looking for step-by-step guidance on which buttons to push to stream a service, check the streaming playbooks.

The StreamDeck will automatically lock after 30 minutes. To unlock it, enter the PIN. If you need the PIN, contact the Head of Technology.

There are three pages of buttons available on the StreamDeck. You can move between them using the “up” and “down” buttons, or move straight to the Home page by pressing the name of the current page.

The page for doing most of the streaming control – interacting with YouTube to start and stop the stream for viewers, starting ATEM stream and recording, and running macros for key stages of the service. For exact instructions, check the streaming a service playbook.

Setup

The StreamDeck is connected to a Raspberry Pi in the equipment cupboard, running Companion Pi.

Insted of the Elgato StreamDeck software we use Bitfocus Companion, as this gives us more flexibility and control.
