Google Drive
The Church’s Google Workspace comes with access to Google Drive. This is a place you can store files, as well as create documents, spreadsheets and presentations. Files in Google Drive are securely stored online, are backed up, and can be accessed from anywhere. They can also easily be shared if needed, either with selected people or publicly.
If you need access to Google Drive as part of your role at St Mary’s this should have been done as part of your onboarding. If you don’t have access but think you need it, get in touch with the Technology Team.
You can download Drive for desktop for simpler access to both personal and shared drives directly from your computer.
Personal drive
If you have a St Mary’s user account then you will have a personal Google Drive you can use to store files. Files kept in your personal drive aren’t usually accessible to anyone else unless you share them.
Shared drives
Within Google Drive there are a number of ‘shared drives’ for individual teams where membership will change over time. This means teams can build up a collection of useful documents without the hassle of sharing them with each person individually.
It is strongly recommended that if you work with sensitive documents you store them in the Church’s Google Drive, and consult with the Technology Team to make sure that security settings are suitable for your needs.
